Considering the safety of players and the possible transmission risk involved when shining the cricket ball with saliva, the ICC Cricket Committee has agreed to prohibit the use of saliva to polish the ball during the upcoming cricket matches. However the Committee have also reviewed medical advice and will let players use sweat to polish the ball as it is highly unlikely that Coronavirus can be transmitted through sweat. The council have even enhanced hygiene measures both on and around the playing field.
