Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority decides to quarantine banknotes and coins for upto 20 days

The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) on Friday announced they have decided to quarantine banknotes and coins that the authority receives from both locally and internationally as a precautionary measure to control the further spread of the COVID-19 in the country. According to SAMA, banknotes, coins and electronic payment devices such as POS machines and ATM's can be a possible means of transmitting Coronavirus to more people, and in this regard they have decided to isolate banknotes and coins in sealed units for about 14 to 20 days. Furthermore, the banknotes and coins will remain at SAMA's treasury, which will then be disbursed to banks across the country.
